I am a lawyer registered with the Brussels Bar, specialising in (international) Commercial Law, with a particular focus on Intellectual Property Law, Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law.
In this capacity, I represent clients in protecting, managing and enforcing their intellectual property rights, including in transactional matters, such as distribution, agency, licensing, technology transfer, software development, outsourcing and service level agreements.
Some years ago, I became deeply involved in assisting new internet top-level domains in their launch, with a particular focus on the protection of rights of others. More in particular, I assisted the European Registry of Internet Domain Names (EURid, .EU) and mTLD Ltd (.MOBI) in the .eu and .mobi Sunrise processes. Currently, I am directing the Sunrise processes for DotAsia Organization Ltd. (.ASIA) and the numerical Sunrise process for SIDN (.NL).
I hold a Law Degree (1998) and a Master in Business Law from the University of Antwerp (2001), as well as Master degrees in Intellectual Property Law (1999) and Corporate Law (2000) from the Catholic University of Brussels and Louvain.
Furthermore, I am a researcher at the Law Faculty of the University of Antwerp and the Brussels-based Institute for European Studies. I teach on a regular basis at the University of Antwerp and the University of Alicante (Magister Lvcentinvs) on intellectual property matters, more in particular technology transfer, the legal aspects of information technology, intellectual property dispute avoidance and dispute resolution.
I’m also a regular speaker at various national and international conferences and seminars.
